CMS Hospital Price Transparency

Tomorrow, Hospital Price Transparency from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services goes into effect. Each hospital operating in the United States is required to publish pricing information in easy-to-understand language. The goal is to make it easier for healthcare consumers to shop and compare prices across hospitals. The Stratasan Team is developing best practice guidelines for hospitals looking to maximize their pricing page for their consumer base. Check back at the end of this month for more information and recommendations from us.

THCIC Data Submission Update

A new THCIC rule has been announced that will impact all Texas hospitals and THA participants.

Texas hospitals must now report administrative claims level billing data on all patient ED visits to FEMCs, HOPDs, and Micro Hospitals. Data must be reported in the ANSI (American National Standards Institute) 837 Institutional Guide format, same as required by HIPAA, with some modification/addition. If you have questions or need more information, we suggest contacting the Texas Hospital Association, compasssupport@tha.org, and reviewing the Texas Department of Health’s FAQ.

Announcing 2021 Stratasan Product Line Updates

We’ve updated Stratasan MSDRG, ICD-10 diagnosis, ICD-10 procedure, and CPT/HCPCS code product lines. These updates are based on input we’ve received from customers, the need for more consistent logic around product lines, and the addition of new codes that need to be assigned to the appropriate product lines. These changes will affect all customers using Stratasan product lines and will allow users to gain a more accurate understanding of their market.

We standardized the naming of main product lines and sub-product lines across code groups. For example, if the main product line is cardiovascular/thoracic surgery in one code group, it maintains the same name throughout code groups.  Additionally, we added more specificity to many sub-product lines. We also used the primary physician specialty associated with the code to assist in product line assignment.

There is an ICD-10 dx sub-product line for a diagnosis of COVID and for a non-diagnosis of COVID. There are several CPT codes in a COVID sub-product line as well as a sub-product line for telehealth. These will help track the impact of COVID.

Click below for a video tutorial summarizing these updates.
