The US Census released the first portion of the 2020 Census data last week. This is going to be an interesting year for healthcare data affected by overall census changes. Follow the link below for the release schedule over the course of 2011.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ website is now updated with the 2011 versions of the ICD-10 crosswalk files. As the US healthcare world transitions from ICD-9 to ICD-10 for medical diagnosis and inpatient procedure coding, crosswalk files will be a real key for success.
To spotlight just how large this transition is going to be, see the small snapshot of changes from 2009 to 2010:
New codes added: 1, 982
Codes deleted: 983
Revised codes: 1,029

HealthDataSource was featured on the front page of the business section in The Tennessean today.
HealthDataSource pulls in data from the public domain and proprietary information from clients to create income and demographic profiles that hospitals and other providers can review to set strategies.
A new strategy that has revealed itself over the past weeks is in the government sector helping representatives better understand the state of health in their district. Our goal is help provide better access to intelligence in hopes of encouraging policy best suited for their constituency.
If you would like more information on how HealthDataSource can help your organization with healthcare market intelligence, please feel encouraged to contact us today.
HealthDataSource is one of the companies featured in this video discussing the role that the Nashville Entrepreneur Center is playing in “making Nashville the #1 place in America to start a business.”
This will give you a good idea of the amazing people that we have the opportunity to be surrounded by as we continue building our suite of Healthcare Market Intelligence applications.
HealthDataSource participated at 1st Pitch at Nashville’s Entrepreneur Center on November 3rd. We had the honor of being the second of 13 presenters to a packed house of 120+ people in or related to the investment community in TN (primarily middle TN).
The feedback has been great, and the meetings that have been scheduled as a result are a great sign of the future (short & long-term) for the HDS team.

In today’s Nashville Business Journal, founder and president, Jason Moore, was quoted in a story about the Nashville Entrepreneur Center.
For the companies incubating at the center, that means meeting every other week — if not more often — to evaluate the business model, go over distribution channels and get the companies’ financial plans ready for potential investors.
Having that support and one-on-one coaching from a team of experienced entrepreneurs was a big draw for Jason Moore, president and chief operating officer of HealthDataSource, a health information technology firm that moved into the center two weeks ago.
“Now that I’m here, (Burcham) continually and consistently brings in other successful people from varied backgrounds, and that gives me the ability to get in front of people who I would have a very hard time getting in front of if it weren’t for the entrepreneur center,” Moore said.

The Entrepreneur Center is located at 105 Broadway in downtown Nashville right on the river. The advantages that HDS will realize from a partnership with the EC is opening up connections to various corporations and businesses around the city as well as national media coverage.
